Flapjacks
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes
Makes around 12 flapjacks.
Ingredients
- 350g Oats
- 160g Butter - I use salted for extra flavour
- 160g Light muscovado (or any other light brown) sugar
- 160g Golden syrup - preferably not the thinner, pourable kind
Method
- Preheat the oven to 130°C
- Melt the 160g butter in a pan on a low heat
- Once the butter has all melted add the 160g sugar and 160g golden syrup and stir well
- Take the pan off the heat and stir in the 350g oats
- Once all the oats are coated in the mixture put it all in a baking paper lined baking tin or tray or other suitable container
- Bake on the middle shelf of your oven for 40 minutes
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 15 minutes
- Turn out onto a chopping board and cut into pieces as you see fit
Notes
There's lots of modifications you can make to the base recipe;
- Replace 50g of the oats with sesame, pumpkin or sunflower seeds, or a combination of all three
- Add some nuts or glacier cherries
- Replace 20g (or more) of the sugar with maple syrup for a more complex flavour
