Consistency

Consistency is key to growth and improvement, physical or psychological. Progress is rarely linear and exercising and training consistently ensures you maintain progress over the long term (especially when progress seems slow). It also avoids the trap of quietly giving up without actually making a decision. You skip a day here, a day there and in a few weeks you're not hitting the gym or going running at all.

Ensure you are employing progressive overload and, if necessary, progressive resistance. You're not making progress (consistent or not) otherwise. All that said, also ensure you get enough rest and sleep and your not doing anything so difficult that compliance becomes an issue.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

Just do it and stick to your program and routine. If you don't have a routine, create or find one and stick to it.
