Air Purification

Important

Air purifiers remove particles from the air as they filter it, not gasses or vapours such as carbon monoxide, chlorine and VOCs. For that reason, even if you make extensive use of air purification, you should always 'air' your house (or any indoor space you spend significant time within) on a daily basis.

Gasses are generally speaking, comprised of a number of single molecules rather than particles of larger chains of substances and materials. Gasses that may be found in the home or office include;

  • carbon dioxide
  • carbon monoxide (chemical formula: CO, poisonous in high concentrations, odourless and tasteless)
  • chlorine
  • oxygen
  • radon

Air purifier standards;

  • Efficient Particulate Air filters: EPA - good
  • High Efficiency Particulate Air filters: HEPA - really good, will capture mould spores
  • Ultra Low Particular Air filters: ULPA - awesome
