GAD-7
GAD-7 Is a questionnaire-based assessment used to gauge Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Any Anxiety Disorder or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). These disorders are listed in order of sensitivity(1) to the assessment (from 86% to 59%). It's based on how a user has felt over the last two weeks and asks the following seven questions, with available answers being a) not at all, b) several days, c) more than half the days and d) nearly every day;
- The probability of a positive result
Over the last two weeks, how often have you been bothered by any of the following problems?
- Feeling nervous, anxious, or on edge?
- Not being able to stop or control worrying?
- Worrying too much about different things?
- Trouble relaxing?
- Being so restless that it's hard to sit still?
- Becoming easily annoyed or irritable?
- Feeling afraid as if something awful might happen?
A 'score' of;
- 0-4 indicates minimal anxiety
- 5-9 indicates mild anxiety
- 10-14 indicates moderate anxiety
- 15-21 indicates severe anxiety
Patients are typically asked to complete the questionnaire on a regular basic in order to access the effectiveness of therapy, medication or other treatments.
