Mostly better absorbed from animal-based foods. Plant-based foods often contain compounds that can bind to minerals and inhibit their absorption (e.g., oxalates, phytates).
Fat soluble should be taken with food (that contains fats) and caution should be exercised to avoid overconsumption as any excess remains in the body. Any excess water soluble vitamins are removed through urination although some may be stored in the liver.
Avoid taking vitamins, minerals and other supplements for 30-60 minutes after consuming coffee - it contains compounds (polyphenols) that limit the absorption of many micronutrients.
