Tirzepatide is a long-acting GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptor and GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist that increases insulin sensitivity and secretion, suppresses glucagon secretion, and slows gastric emptying.1
