Progressive Resistance

Similar to progressive resistance (or perhaps it should be considered a modification of it) but rather than increasing/adding weight when you are able to fully complete all the sets of an exercise you instead increase the time you take to perform the movement in question (i.e. you go slower). You may also be able to increase the range of motion (squatting lower for example).

Only once you are unable to make th exercise harder do you revert to your usual speed (and range of motion if application) and increase the weight as per progressive overload. You then repeat as necessary.

This is one method of overcoming a plateau (where you are unable to increase the weight for a particular exercise for a prolonged period).
