aka mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons. A distillate of petroleum. Minimally treated oil is considered carcinogenic.

Used in some confectionary to provide a glossy look/finish and stop sweets sticking together. This is highly refined and there is no current evidence to suggest it is carcinogenic. UKs FSA state regular and/or high consumption can cause damage to DNA and has the potential to increase the risk of cancer.
